The Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference had its inaugural meeting in Hong Kong in 1995. Since then, APRO (Asia Pacific Responsible Care Organization) members have been committed to the principles of Responsible Care, continuously striving to improve safety, health, environment, and sustainability performances. The conference is held biennially to promote Responsible Care by sharing best practices and collaborating on the long-term development of the chemical industry in the Asia Pacific region. This will help to enhance the reputation of the chemical industry.

The 17th Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference

The 17th Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference, originally scheduled for 2021 and organized by TRCA, had to be postponed to December 1-2, 2022, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it still couldn't be held as a physical event, and had to proceed as an online conference.

The theme of APRCC 2022 is “Responsible Care—Care for Society through Self-Discipline and Responsibility.” Through self-discipline and continuous improvement in our performance in safety, health, environment, and sustainability, we can achieve our goal of caring for society. We believe giant leaps often start with small steps. Therefore, the global chemical industry is actively working hard to meet and even go beyond the legal requirements, hoping that we can finally overcome the challenges of climate change, become a solution provider, and fulfill our responsibility as a member of the global village.

The 18th Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference

During the 17th APRCC hosted by TRCA, we expressed our hope that the 18th APRCC could be held in Taiwan as an in-person event. With the gradual relaxation of border restrictions and improvement in the global pandemic situation, we are delighted to announce that the 18th APRCC will indeed be held in Taiwan as a physical event. The conference is scheduled to take place in Kaohsiung City, which is known as the center of Taiwan's petrochemical industry, from March 27th to 28th, 2024. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Asia Pacific Responsible Care Organization's partners for giving TRCA the opportunity to host the APRCC once again.

But the 18th Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference, originally scheduled for March 27-28, 2024, at the InterContinental Hotel in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has been canceled due to China's suppression, which is beyond our control.

TRCA suggests that the Asia Pacific Responsible Care Organization (APRO) find another host association for the conference. APRO has agreed to postpone the current APRCC to 2025 and delegate the hosting responsibilities to other national associations.

We recommend preserving the 2024 APRCC website to honor TRCA's hard work and document Taiwan's challenges in hosting the event. The website should be presented in a respectful manner to express our regret for the cancellation of the meeting.
